We are delighted to announce that the ASBCI Student Design Award will form part of the Professional Clothing awards 2014. After a fantastic inaugural event in 2012, we are delighted to announce that the Professional Clothing Awards are back by popular demand and will return in 2014 in association with the Professional Clothing Show, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham over the 1st and 2nd April 2014.

More than half of the UK population wears some kind of specialist clothing or uniform for work. As such it forms a large and important part of the clothing market. Design trends, new fabrics and innovative ideas are crucial to building a positive future for the industry.

Clothing worn at work should have equal focus in terms of innovation and design. People want to feel that they can wear fashionable clothes outside of the workplace and with iconic designers such as Jeff Banks, Paul Costello, Julian McDonald, and more recently Vivienne Westwood whose contemporary collection for Virgin Atlantic shows that fashionable couture is relevant in the workplace. Having such high-profile designers focusing on the corporatewear and workwear markets will inevitably attract young designers to our industry.

In order to nurture new talent coming into the industry we are launching a brand-new category for the 2014 Awards. The ASBCI Student Design Award will celebrate the achievements of some of the new young designers and will showcase some of their stunning collections.

This is an exciting, multifaceted and evolving business with wearers demanding consistently high standards of design, manufacture and practical considerations. By partnering with ASBCI, the Professional Clothing Awards hopes that many young designers will consider entering the clothing industry within the corporatewear, workwear and PPE sectors.

Eight finalists will be selected to make up either a male or a female outfit for final judging. This garment will then be submitted for final judging. Announcements of winners will take place in the form of a fashion presentation at the ASBCI AGM and the the prizes will be presented at the Professional Clothing Awards at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on the 1st April 2014.
