On June 5, 2013, PPyi revisited Shanghai’s Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center (the same venue as CIOSH 86 in April) to attend the Shanghai International Occupational Uniform Exhibition (OUE; 上海国际职业装博览会).
On display at OUE was a comprehensive range of uniforms: uniform suits and shirts, coveralls, general occupational work wear, outdoor clothing, security clothing, chef and catering clothing, school uniforms, medical clothing, to name but a few .
A runway show and a professional clothing design competition were also held at the same time. With the presence of “international” in its name, most exhibitors were big or middle-sized domestic companies. In addition to the guarantee of the quality and function of their products, suppliers nowadays tended to brag more about their design capability.
Among them, PPyi found several high-quality uniform suppliers who also featured their own design team and production lines for high-visibility clothing and outdoor workwear.
Having worked as an OEM supplier to many internationally-recognised brands for years, these companies have gradually grasped the know-how and skills in garment manufacturing, and now have started developing their own brands.
Present at the show were many Japanese WFOEs and Joint Ventures, many of which were explaining that it was their first time to attend a domestic Chinese expo as they wanted to explore opportunities in the big domestic market.
For those looking for a large range of suppliers, effective and efficient information collection, this expo is not the ideal match, but if you happened to be in Shanghai it is worth a look.
(Centrally located but cramped and run down facilities)
(clear signature and information)
(reasonable suppliers given that it is not a PPE-focused show)
Product range: 2.5/5
(mainly ordinary occupational uniforms or suits, but some comprehensive suppliers with good design capability for PPE were found)
